Disciplines as diverse as anthropology, sociology, communications, media studies, political science, and cultural studies recognize that globalization is significantly changing the way we construct and interpret our cultural landscape. In this seminar we will examine some complex connections, interactions, and contradictions between globalization and culture. In so doing, the course will trace some of the issues that have become part of the agenda for understanding and struggling with globalization over the last two decade. A wide range of theoretical and methodological topics will be covered and the approaches encouraged in this course are necessarily interdisciplinary.
